The first Japanese phrases, taught to students in the beginner’s class at Intercultural Institute of Japan, are the question “When did you come to Japan?” and the reply to this question, “I came what day of what month.” We teach this dialogue, because this is what students want to state in Japanese at the beginning. Therefore, in the beginners class, students learn words and expressions necessary in daily life, as well as, what helps them to communicate their experience and thoughts. Students talk and learn, as they converse with the instructor and their classmates.

Studying language is not simply mastering the grammar, but applying what you have learnt to realistic and smooth conversation, that is our goal.

Characteristics of Beginner’s Class

natural expression to learn

We teach useful and practical Japanese which is used among Japanese in their every day life. Therefore you will be able to master the essence of its expression via conversation in the class.

Learn the correct pronunciation with our method.

Once one learns the incorrect pronunciation of the language, it is difficult to fix this later on. This is why we emphasize on the pronunciation in our language training from the very start.

We group students by the student’s mother language for lessons of Kanji.

There is certainly a large difference for recognizing Kanji, between those students who have come from areas where Chinese characters are used and those who do not. This is why we group students according to what their native language is, and teach each group with different methods that are more suitable to their orientation for Kanji.
